Hybrid latex particles combine the unique properties of inorganic nano/micro with inherent polymers, exhibiting tremendous potential for a variety applications. Recent years have witnessed an increased interest in design and preparation hybrid well-defined size, structure morphology. Due to its simplicity, versatility environmental friendliness, situ (Pickering) emulsion polymerization has been demonstrated be powerful approach large-scale particles. In this review, strategies applications are systematically summarized. A particular focus is placed on enhanced core–shell, yolk–shell, multinuclear, raspberry-like, dumbbell-shaped, multipod-like or armored morphologies. We hope that considerable advances, examples principles presented review can motivate future contributions provide deeper understanding current technologies, develop new processes, enable further exploitation outstanding characteristics properties.

Catalytic Ethylene Polymerization in Aqueous Emulsion : Catalyst Tailoring and Synthesis of Very Small Latex Particles
INTRODUCTION Emulsion polymerization yielding polymer latexes, is carried out on a vast scale. The use of water as a dispersion medium offers a unique combination of features, such as effective heat transfer, effective stabilization of polymer particles by surfactants, and environmental friendliness. By contrast to polymerization in solution or in the bulk, in emulsion polymerization a large po...

One approach for making inexpensive inorganic-organic hybrid photovoltaic (PV) cells is to fill highly ordered TiO(2) nanotube (NT) arrays with solid organic hole conductors such as conjugated polymers. Here, a new in situ UV polymerization method for growing polythiophene (UV-PT) inside TiO(2) NTs is presented and compared to the conventional approach of infiltrating NTs with pre-synthesized p...
متن کاملPreparation of Inert Polystyrene Latex Particles as MicroRNA Delivery Vectors by Surfactant-Free RAFT Emulsion Polymerization.
We present the preparation of 11 nm polyacrylamide-stabilized polystyrene latex particles for conjugation to a microRNA model by surfactant-free RAFT emulsion polymerization. Our synthetic strategy involved the preparation of amphiphilic polyacrylamide-block-polystyrene copolymers, which were able to self-assemble into polymeric micelles and "grow" into polystyrene latex particles. The surface ...
متن کاملSubmicron polyethylene particles from catalytic emulsion polymerization.
Particles of linear polyethylene (M(n) = (2-3) x 10(3) g x mol(-)(1); M(w)/M(n) = 2-4) obtained by catalytic emulsion polymerization of ethylene possess a nonspherical, lentil-like shape with an average aspect ratio of ca. 10 and diameters from 30 to >300 nm, as determined by TEM and AFM. The particle structure results from a stacking of the lamellae along the one shorter axis of the lentils (i...
متن کاملSilica/Polyethylene Nanocomposite Particles from Catalytic Emulsion Polymerization
Catalytic emulsion polymerization of ethylene with nickel catalysts in the presence of silica nanoparticles affords stable dispersions of silica/polyethylene nanocomposite particles. The modification of the surface of silica particles by grafting upon their surface of octenylor octylsilanes is a prerequisite for obtaining composites. Different morphologies of composites particles were observed ...
